Turning the 1099 feature on and off

If you send 1099-MISC forms to individuals and file 1096 Summary and 1099-MISC forms with the IRS, you can use the 1099 feature within QuickBooks.

To turn the 1099 feature on and off

  1. Display the Tax: 1099 preferences window.

  2. Display the Tax: 1099 preferences window.
  3. Click Company Preferences.

  4. At the "Do you file 1099 MISC forms?" option, select Yes.

    If you don't work with individuals who qualify as 1099 recipients, select No to turn off the 1099 feature in QuickBooks. The Account and Threshold columns are grayed out, indicating that they can no longer be modified.
