Reinstalling QuickBooks

Reinstall QuickBooks if you have hard disk or other equipment problems, or if you suspect the QuickBooks program file is damaged. Reinstalling does not affect your data file.

  1. Insert the QuickBooks CD into your CD-ROM drive.

The installation program starts automatically and detects that QuickBooks is already installed.

  2. Choose Reinstall QuickBooks.

  3. When prompted, enter your original Installation Key Code.

You don't need to re-register unless you are reinstalling to a different computer.

For users who unlocked a new edition of QuickBooks: Follow the instructions in your Reinstallation Guide. To reinstall the new edition, be sure to use the Reinstall disk. When prompted, enter the Installation Key Code that you purchased when you unlocked the QuickBooks edition.

For QuickBooks Pro users only: If you are reinstalling QuickBooks because you are upgrading to a 5-User Value Pack, enter the Installation Key Code from your new Value Pack. After all users have installed or reinstalled the QuickBooks 5-User Value Pack, only one user must re-register.
